The Loan Escrow Clerk processes payments and disbursements to and from escrow accounts used to collect and pay property taxes and insurance premiums which are required on mortgage loans. Other duties will include, but may not be limited to: typing and mailing letters; calling insurance agents, tax collectors and customers; interpreting insurance policies and loan documents; researching through various municipal records online; preparing checks and general ledger entries; maintaining accurate records; preparing and utilizing reports; and providing customer service and support to both internal and external clients. Complies with government regulations, audit requirements and company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Process escrow payments and disbursements
    Create general ledger entries
    Review reports to identify accounts requiring action/attention
    Examine documents to ensure compliance with escrow instructions, company & legal policies
    Order property insurance policies with sufficient coverage to prevent loss
    Search and print county tax records for evidence of paid and unpaid property taxes
    Track actions taken and correspondence with customers, insurance agents & tax collectors
    Assist with report preparation
    Update system data as needed
    Prepare or submit check requests for invoices to be paid
    Provide accurate and timely responses to all calls and inquires

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Must be fluent in both English and Spanish
  • High school required; some college coursework in accounting, bookkeeping, or business administration
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience working with insurance, mortgage loans, general ledger and accounts payable/accounts receivable
  • Must be familiar with loan documents, escrows, municipal records, and government regulations
